Shoe Porn- Christian Louboutin Heads to Paris

Christian Louboutin has recruited photographer Peter Lippmann to shoot this magical campaign for the brand’s lookbook for Autumn 2012. The latest creations of the much-loved red bottoms were scaled to larger-than-life proportions and are featured alongside historical Parisian settings such as the Notre Dame, the Place de la Concorde and the Pont Des Arts.

I hope you enjoyed the first official days of fall this weekend, caught up on sleep, and hung with friends and family. One of my besties from Boston visited me and along with the Mr. we adventured over to Governor's Island, Brooklyn Book Festival and the Brooklyn Flea at Smorgasburg. I had an amazing weekend! Happy Monday-make this week great!

The Lowline: NYC's Subterranean Park

Last week I visited The Lowline in LES and I realized that I had stumbled upon something remarkable! As we all know space is at a premium in Manhattan, the school of thinking has always been to build up. Because of this, NYC is known for turning unused, unconventional places into sensations like The High Line. Two architects, James Ramsey and Dan Barasch have come up with an ingenius concept and they're calling it The Lowline. The transformation of an abandoned trolley terminal on the Lower East Side into the world's first underground park! The space is rather large by NYC standards: 1.5 acres. Ramsey and Barasch raised $155,000 so that they could build a full-size scale model- open until September 27th at the Essex Street Warehouse.

Since light is obviously an issue when building a park with green space underground these guys figured out a pretty innovative way around it- "remote skylights". These futuristic lights capture natural sunlight from the surface and then channel it underground through fiber-optic cable, generating enough light to grow plants, trees and grass. Pretty cool, huh? Check it out if you have the chance to this week.

Fashion week was a great opportunity to see what the "trends" will be for Spring 2013, catch glimpses of your favorite fashion bloggers, celebrities, and witness crazy outfits. NYC is über energetic (more than usual that is) leading up to and during fashion week- it's palpable.

My favs included DVF-she combines elegance and sexy quiet nicely, Altuzarra- had great shoes to show off and clean lines which I love, Alice + Olivia- love their playful and coquettish take on fashion, Jason Wu- celebrates women unlike most other designers and finally, in my humble opinion, most importantly is street style- what real people wear to actual fashion shows.

With all the anticipation of fashion week it was a bit of a let down. The entire affair was reminiscent of a meat market and there was an abundance of attention whores at every turn- it was uncomfortable. Faux celebrities everywhere- last time I checked an expensive camera and shoes neither renders you a fashion icon nor a celebrity.

With all of that said I am still gleeful to see the actual fashion that was a product of the week. I hope you all had a fierce weekend & take this week by storm!

HAPPY WEEKEND!

Happy weekend! The weeks following long weekends always seem to be the longest, and this week was no exception. My week was packed with several hectic interviews but on the upside with that comes lots of options. I started coaching soccer this week too and love my kiddies! Since the forecast in NYC is nothing short of severe it looks like I'll be getting some much needed R&R and watching football all weekend-it's my excuse to rest up for my birthday week! Hope the weather is better wherever you are!

Here are a few of my favorites this week:

With the DNC over I hope all of you will be doing this in November.
I wish someone was giving me this or one of these for my birthday.
If you like those follow me here
While napping this weekend I'm hoping the hair fairy visits to make me look like her or can do a brunette's ombre for me. (Le sigh)
With tornados hitting NYC this weekend I'll be wishing I were here listening to Lianne La Havas wearing nothing but this gem while watching the US Open
If anyone can find me a link to buy this sweater I'll love you forever!
Call me crazy, but this little guy is unbelievable!
And finally, although a girl can dream for all of this I'll just settle for these adorable new Keds

See you next week!

Blog Crushing- Floral Done Right

With floral prints making a comeback this season, I figured I would incorporate my blog crushes into this post. These ladies do lots of things right, one of them definitely being floral prints. They have inspired me to find some affordable floral finds for fall (like how that rolls off the tongue). Outside of the Alice + Olivia pumps all items are under $90. Any good finds you can link us to? What floral prints are you rockin' this fall?

Enjoy!

HAPPY HOLIDAY WEEKEND

It is Labor Day Weekend! Can you believe it? Summer has once again come and gone. I hope all of you have made unforgettable memories with loved ones this summer and come out unscathed. With summer leaving I'm ready for the NYC subway system to no longer be a microwave, foliage, and Starbucks pumpkin spiced lattes. Not to mention the fabulous fall fashion finds (FNO and fashion week are right around the corner)! I hope you are all as excited as I am. And I leave you with Jay-Z....

xoxo,
M
